Art of Nursing Program 2017 Speaker Profile
Laurie Benson was named as the first Executive Director for Nurses on Boards Coalition in March of 2016. Benson has more than 35 years of experience serving as a corporate executive, founder, CEO, C-suite advisor, and multi-sector board member. After serving as CEO and Co-founder of Inacom Information Systems for 25 years, she served as an advisor to executives on issues such as board governance, innovation, strategy and high performance teams.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Nurses on Boards Coalition, whose mission is to improve health in communities across the nation by advancing at least 10,000 nurses to the boardroom by 2020. Additionally, she is a member of several corporate and non-profit boards in industries ranging from health care, finance, and insurance to manufacturing and technology.
Benson earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2013, she was named one of UW Madison’s Distinguished Alumni and received the Chancellor’s Entrepreneurial Achievement Award.
